In May of 2018, consumer credit reporting agency, TransUnion announced that accomplished legal executive, Heather Russell will join as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer on June 4th. She will be replacing Replacing Executive Vice President John Blenke, who has plans on retiring later in the year. With over 20 years of expertise in areas of regulatory and financial service, Russell’s abilities include regulatory compliance, mergers, acquisitions, consumer financial services, security, data privacy, and FinTech. Heather Russell ‘s duties at TransUnion include consumer privacy functions, government, and legal relations, corporate compliance, and governance as well as serving on TransUnion’s Executive Committee.
Heather Russell received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Biology from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia in 1993. Upon graduation, she pursued and earned a Doctor of Law Degree in 1997 from American University Washington College of Law in Washington D.C. Russell began a legal executive career in 1997 as a Law Clerk for Senior United States District Judge Claude M. Hilton of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. In 1998 she served as a Counsel for the Law practice of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Associates in Washington, D.C., and London, United Kingdom. Heather Russell also served as Associate General Counsel and Senior Vice President for Bank of America (2006-2011), Managing Director, Global Chief Regulatory Counsel, and Head Office of Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs for BNY Mellon (2011-2015). She served as Corporate Secretary, Chief Legal Officer and Executive Vice President for Fifth Third Bank (2015-2016), and a Partner for Buckley Sandler LLP (2016-2018).
