As long as technology continues to become more and more advanced, businesses and companies alike must adapt to these advancements as well. Telecom companies such as Coriant, who need to utilize technology, know how to adapt better than most.
Coriant is the name of a telecommunications company that got its first start back in 2013. Originally, Coriant was a part of the Nokia Siemens Network, which in turn was under the ownership of Marlin Equity Partners. By late spring of 2013, the company declared its independence and began operating as its own business. In more recent news, Marlin Equity Partners has decided to form a merger between Coriant and Tellabs, another tech company, with the new business entity operating simply as Coriant.
With Coriant still in operation today, it’s important to know that the man behind much of Coriant’s success is CEO Shaygan Kheradpir. Kheradpir was recently named as the CEO of the company, after putting in long hours of work cooperating alongside the many vendors who operated alongside the company. While Kheradpir is the current CEO, he replaces Pat DiPietro, who formerly held that title and now serves as the company’s vice chairman. Kheradpir originally started off as a London native who grew up living in Iran. Eventually, he moved from there to the United States and began taking classes at Cornell University. By the time he had graduated, he had earned his bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees in the field of electrical engineering.
Upon the completion of his collegiate studies, Kheradpir took on his first job working at GTE Laboratories, working as a network and routing manager. His constant work impressed his employers so much that he was eventually granted the role of chief information officer (CIO) of the company. In 2000, GTE and Bell Atlantic had formed a merger and Verizon was the result of its completion. At Verizon, Kheradpir remained as the CIO of the company and had developed small teams who would be tasked with developing new ideas for technology to put on the market. One of the accomplishments his teams was responsible for was having a hand in developing Verizon’s FiOs fiber optic video initiative.
